Joanna and her father have been strong for each other ever since her mother/his wife passed away from a car accident. They only have each other, and the last item they have of the mother before she passed on is her jade bracelet. Joanna is hardworking and does well in her studies while her father works hard during his job to provide for the both of them. Everything seems to go relatively smoothly until one day, Joanna comes home from school and sees her father pawning away her mother's jade bracelet. She is disappointed. Without knowing why, Joanna assumes he pawned the bracelet for his own benefit and decides to take up part time jobs to earn money and buy back the bracelet. Slowly, she loses her attention on studies and after a few weeks, her father receives a call from her form teacher explaining that she did not attend class. He is furious. Without knowing why, he assumes that she has been coming home late and skipping class because she has been hanging around with bad company. He waits for her to come home and expresses his anger towards her, even including that if her mother knew how her daughter has become, she would be very disappointed. Joanna reveals that she knows he lost his job and that was the reason why he pawned the bracelet. She passed by the coffee shop on one of the days when she was coming home from school and saw him looking for jobs on the newspaper. Then, she added on the fact that the reason why she has been working late is because she has been working to retrieve the bracelet back. Both of them realised that they has misunderstood each other. She takes out the bracelet to pass to him and he starts to tear up. He apologises to her for making assumptions about her and calling himself a bad father. She disagrees and says he is the best father she could ever ask for and they hug while he holds the jade bracelet, as though the mother is still with them.
