A personal documentary detailing the journey of a son, the narrator, who tries to reconnect with his mother, who became a Buddhist Nun after a lengthy and emotional divorce. Under the guise of wanting to learn about his mother's new found faith in Buddhism, he starts helping her prepare for an upcoming religious ritual called, 'Fire Puja', though it is through the conversations that take place during these preparations that his true intent of wanting to understand his mother and the extent of their family's predicament comes to light.

The narrator must bring up wounds of the past that started with his mother and father's divorce. A moment with which he feels has lead to his family unit falling apart before him and one that his mother, with the help of religion, has since moved on from. Her ability to move on forms the core of the narrator's inability to communicate with her and is one of the main reasons why he feels he does not understand her anymore, let alone her decision to become a Buddhist Nun.

But at the 'Fire Puja' the narrator slowly begins to realize just how important his mother is to the people she prays with. While initially feeling that she has been stolen away from him, he now sees that it would be he that would be stealing his mother away from her followers who like him need the guidance of a parent figure, a mother.
