Once a familiar sight in Singapore’s heartlands, the karang guni man went door-to-door collecting old newspapers, electronics, and unwanted items for recycling or resale. Today, the trade is fading — but Mr Bryan, one of the youngest in the business, is keeping it alive. Running the family operation, he buys, sorts, and sells recyclables by hand, continuing a tradition that few from his generation have chosen to carry on.
