HER - Women in Asia S4: EPISODE 6: HER Empowering Girls

HER is back! Ready for round four? Like in the first three seasons, HER 4 portrays the lives of women from all spheres of Asian societies, featuring protagonists from India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. In each episode, three women give their perspectives on their living conditions and other universal and crucial topics. What challenges do they face in tech and AI? According to UNICEF, twelve million girls globally are forced into marriage each year. About 640 million girls and women alive today were forced to marry before their 18th birthday. And South Asia has the highest rate of child marriage worldwide. Although the number has fallen slightly in recent years, UNICEF warns that ongoing crises, armed conflicts, climate disaster, and the consequences of the pandemic could undo progress made so far. Follow Rohingya refugee and abuse victim Ayesha, Indonesian activist Suci, and Pakistani human rights activist Marvi, as they traverse through dangerous land and give hope and empowerment to others in need.
