"Heart of the City" tells about the life-and-death struggle of Manila's urban poor settlers whose homes are about to be demolished. On 23rd September 2010, some settlers stood up for their right to the city. The North Triangle community put up a barricade that forced the police and demolition crew to retreat. The documentary introduces us to the women and workers behind this spontaneous resistance, and shows how these settlers, sometimes derogatorily called the "squatters", live their life in dignity and learn to organise themselves in the heart of a city that reserves no place for them.
