Ryan, who struggles to find his place in society, comes home with Madelyn to invite his mother to their wedding in New York. However, Ryan’s Mother insists they follow tradition and honour the bride’s family by commemorating The Betrothal Ceremony (Guo Da Li) before tying the knot. Ryan rejects this notion due to his work commitments but more importantly, it is Madelyn’s family who questions the necessity of such traditions in a modern world. Ryan desperately navigates his way through this mess in the limited time that he has.
