"A story with a dachshund in the background" is a short story of an extraordinary superhero who has a power to evoke memories. He decides to help his young neighbour. A sad thing happened to her. She witnessed a boy stealing an old man’s money. As she was trying to stop him, her teddy got roughed up. The superhero repairs it by attaching a button on a place of lost eye and the girl leaves smiling. She is unaware of her neighbour's further intervention. The man decides to find the culprit and teach him a lesson. As the night falls, he visits the young thief who is fast asleep and evokes forgotten memories of his grandpa buying him a toy of his dreams. Since he was a poor man, he had to give up his daily groceries in order to buy it. The young thief wakes up filled with remorse. His victim resembles his grandpa. He decides to repair the wrong he did.
