The Healer is an observational documentary that follows the life of Haji Amir, commonly known as a Perawat among the Malay Muslim community. A surveyor by day and an Islamic healer by night, Haji Amir uses the Quran to heal patients of their ailments – spiritual or emotional. The 58-year-old father of three makes house visits to various clients several times a week, all found through word of mouth or recommendations. Refusing to be paid, Haji Amir does it all in the name of charity and in the hope of helping someone out of their misery – spiritual, emotional or physical.
