The Ballad of Srikandi: A Struggle Beneath the Stigma

This film is a slice of the reality transwomen or waria communities in Bali has to experience. Discrimination and stigma are still attached to them, resulting in difficulties in accessing basic needs regarding employment, education, health, access to economic assistance, and other related matters.

Questions arise as to whether the government and society have provided space and equal opportunities for transwomen and waria communities. It is hoped that this film can open up the horizons of knowledge and empathy in all of us. For this movie to be a bridge to bring up a conversation about the struggles of marginalized communities in achieving equal rights within Indonesian society.
