Sense Of Subsoil

Tonny Pedersen is mad about earth and has a unique ability to sense what is hiding deep down in the ground. He was taught the craft of drilling at a young age on old machines without hydraulics and where his senses was all he had to guide him when aiming for core samples in just the right earth layers in the underground.

Today Tonny is recognized as one of the most skilled in his profession and is one of very few who has specialized in geotechnical- and environmental drilling in confined areas such as basements and elevator shafts, where space is extremely limited and conventional drilling rigs can not get inside.

Director's Statement: Take the enthusiasm of a child, when you give it a shovel and say: Go ahead and dig. Now exchange the shovel with a mini drilling rig and you have got Tonny.

Tonny is very passionate about his craft and is also a fabulous communicator which got me playing with the idea of making a film about a craft very few have ever heard of and a man with an almost supernatural sensory ability.” Having grown up in a family of entrepreneurs, but having always worked within the Arts, I decided to approach the film as if it was an Artist he was portraying. So instead explaining what a well-digger is; describing Tonny's work processes or going into detail about his machines, I instead focused on what it actually is Tonny's feels and senses when drilling for core samples.
