Mushroom Boys is a documentary that observes the work journey of 5 boys with down syndrome under the leadership of Ong Chin Wah, a recently retired IT professional in his late 50s seeking to provide a more sustainable job environment through mushroom farming for individuals with intellectual disabilities. This venture is born out of frustration as job opportunities for these individuals are far and few in between. The demanding job requirements and unsuitable environment in most companies makes it hard for these individuals to stay and progress on a job.

With totally no farming experience and a very limited startup fund, Chin Wah has to learn from scratch about mushroom farming and collaborate with Kiat, the fungi cultivator expert from Edible Garden City. Through the perspective of Hong An, we observe the boys as they overcome obstacles and relational challenges with each other.
