Gudeg Mbah Lindu

Mbah Lindu was born in the ‘20s. Not a lot of people know about her childhood or teenage life, but almost everyone in Jogja know her mouthwatering gudeg. This “Gudeg Mbah Lindu” short movie tells a story of a single mother who gives her life to cooking and selling gudeg for over 80 years in order to take care of her family and to preserve Indonesia’s culinary heritage. “There’s no one in this world, that I know of, that’s still alive and still sells and cooks daily like Mbah Lindu. No one,” said William Wongso, Indonesian well-known chef. Mbah Lindu not only became the hero of her immediate family but also to Indonesia. May her selflessness and lifelong dedication inspire men and women of all ages.
