Auntwo Susan

At some point in life, anyone can feel an amount of loneliness. Aunt Susan, 54, has always lived alone and has always said she’s better that way. She’s not fond of interacting with people, even with relatives, because she is constantly teased. Aunt Susan is diagnosed with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and people brush this off thinking that it’s just an exaggeration and a result of her being too meticulous. Aunt Susan has learned how to live with this disorder for many years now and one can say it’s become one of her trait.

During Aunt Susan’s employment years she has enjoyed the company of Julia, her 11 year- old next door neighbor. The little girl would visit her in the afternoon for some cookies and stories whenever the girl felt like their home was too noisy. The little girl enjoyed Aunt Susan’s cleanliness, orderliness and serenity. On the other hand, Aunt Susan became fond of Julia because even for a young age, she understood her and does not intend to judge. Unfortunately, Julia and her family moved out.

Time passed and a young adult Julia visited Aunt Susan- Both catching up on their lives. Julia still having to put up with quarrelling parents and Aunt Susan still shutting herself out from relatives. This reunion turned out to be reminiscent and it sparked a promised they both said years ago. With the promise at hand, they both try to resolve their issues of home and family and finally realizing that some things never change. They both come home to each other instead and enjoying one’s company.
