Haunting History S3 EP 1: The Diamond Block
In this episode of Haunting History, Eugene takes us to the west side of Singapore, to Jurong’s enigmatic “Diamond Block.” On the surface, it’s just an unusual HDB building with a striking geometric shape. But behind its angular façade lies a troubled history from its beginnings in the 1970s as housing for industrial workers, to decades of decline marked by crime, poverty, and unsettling deaths that never made headlines but left an imprint on the community.
Joined by guest Syed, Eugene unpacks the architectural and social significance of the Diamond Block, the strange geomantic beliefs about its sharp edges, and the whispered stories of spirits that linger in its quiet corridors. With much of the block now abandoned and boarded up, only the ground floor remains alive with old businesses, a stark contrast to the stillness above. As the night deepens, they explore whether the Diamond Block’s eerie presence comes from history, design… or something far less explainable.
